# Why am I being asked to upload additional documents to open my bank account?

## This article explains why you may be asked for more documents during your bank application, and how to upload them so your account can be opened.

**Why am I being asked for this?**

Anatomy's banking partner has to verify the identity and address of everyone listed on a business bank account. This is a federal requirement called Know Your Customer (KYC), and it helps protect your business from fraud.

Usually we can verify you from the information in your application. Sometimes we can't, and you'll be asked to upload a document. Common reasons include:

- The name or address on your application doesn't exactly match public or credit bureau records.
- You've moved recently, or your address uses a different format (for example, "Suite" vs. "Ste").
- Your date of birth or SSN couldn't be matched automatically.

A request for documents is normal. It doesn't mean your application has been denied.

**Which documents are accepted?**

*To verify your identity:*

- Driver's license
- State-issued ID
- Passport

*To verify your address:*

- Utility bill (electric, gas, water, internet or phone)
- Bank or credit card statement
- Lease agreement or mortgage statement

Your document must:

- Show your full name, which matches your application.
- Be dated within the last 90 days (for address documents).
- Be current and not expired (for IDs).
- Be a clear color photo or scan that shows all four corners, with nothing cut off or blurred.

**How do I upload my documents?**

Note that only the person being verified (usually the Authorized Signer or a beneficial owner) can upload their own documents.

1. Log into the portal at app.anatomy.com.
2. Click **\[Upload documents\]** on the banner at the top of your dashboard.
3. Choose the type of document you're uploading.
4. Click **Upload** and select your file (JPG, PNG or PDF).
5. If you're uploading an ID, upload both the front and the back.
6. Click **Submit**.

Once your documents are submitted, our banking partner will review them. We'll email you if anything else is needed.

If you have trouble uploading your documents, please reach out to [support@anatomy.com](mailto:support@anatomy.com).
